20 years after, Nigeria still remains industrialization hub in Africa — Ayade

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has on Thursday, November 21st hosted the 2019 Africa Industrialization Day (AID) themed; Positioning African Industry To Supply The African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA).

The event had in attendance, the Governor Sen. (Prof) Ben Ayade, the industrialization giant, Federal Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Mr. Otumba Richard Adebayor, United Nation Industrial Development (UNIDO) representatives, headed by Mr Barkol, the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Industry ably represented by Engr John, Ambassador of Kenya to Nigeria, Mr Wilfred Itaghi, Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jones, Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tina Banku, Chief Of Staff, Martins Orim, formal Director General Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency (CRSPHDA), Dr Betta Edu, State Excos and a host of others.


The event started with a welcome address presented by the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment Engr John who commended Sen. Ben Ayade for leading in industrialization drive in the entire country, he as well thanked UNIDO for their wonderful partnership and support. The head of the UNIDO Mr Barkol in his speech thanked H.E Gov Ben Ayade for putting in his best and working so hard to give CRS the best especially in industrialization. He highlighted the role of the event which is to help abate all means of quantitative production as well as adding global value in Agro business development.

After an addresses from the Ambassador of Kenya to Nigeria, and that of the United Nations Secretary General Mr Anthonio Gutteres, was a keynote address presented by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Otunba Richard Adebayor. The Minister expressed his gratitude to Gov. Ben Ayade and commended him for his giant steps and achievements in industrialization, he urged other State Governors to follow the footsteps of the CRS Government and concluded by thanking UNIDO for their magnanimous support/partnership.

Declaring the event open was the dynamic digital governor of CRS, the industrialization giant and the father of Agro Industrialization Sen. Ben Ayade. His Excellency started by welcoming our August visitors to the people’s paradise and went further to charge Nigerians to stop consuming what they don’t produce especially when such products can conveniently be produced here in Nigeria. In his words; 20yrs after, Africa is still an industrialization base, why consume what you can’t produce? Nigeria is a country so baffled in thoughts, soul and mind.

He highlighted the first four steps in industrialization which includes; Agro Industrialization as first, Heavy industrialization as second, ICT being third before moving to Artificial Intelligence. He urged Nigerians to communicate with the past and share ideas with the future.

Immediately after the part two of the event was a powerful vote of thanks on behalf of the CRS Government from the formal DG of CRSPHCDA Dr Betta Edu. She thanked all participants especially the Minister, the UNIDO team, the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Industry, the Ambassador of Kenya to Nigeria, the State Excos as well as all government MDAs for their support. She thanked specially Gov. Ben Ayade for his love, hard work and commitment in industrializing CRS and achieving a lot within a space of 4yrs. She invited our visitors to come take part in the Calabar largest Africa Street Party taking place in December.

The Governor led a delegation of both the UNIDO team and the Taiwan Business Associates to an industrialization tour at the CRS industrialization park. The event was ended with a Gala/dinner night in peregrino Banquet Hall were His Excellency and his dear wife were in attendance to wine and dine with our guests.
