2023: APC Suffers Major Setback As More Governors, Senators, Others, Take A Bow, Set To Join PDP
Senator Rochas Okorocha, the former governor of Imo State and senator for the Imo West Senatorial Zone, is expected to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) (PDP).
Senator Samuel Anyanwu gave journalists this information over the weekend.
Senator Anyanwu, a former lawmaker, has claimed that numerous APC legislators in Imo have began discussions to join the state’s Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP.
Anyanwu said this on the PDP’s and the state’s future in 2023.
“Those who are currently members should see their membership as a privilege to remain loyal and obedient to party norms if national and state legislators are quietly negotiating for a comeback into the PDP,” he remarked.
Over the last year, the All Progressives Congress in Imo State has been engulfed in internal warfare, with former Governor Rochas Okorocha fighting for his political life.
The former Governor went on to construct a parallel Party structure led by Dan Nwafor, which was considered unlawful and void by the party’s national leadership.
Okorocha has been accused of anti-party conduct, the most serious of which is the attempt to destabilize the APC ahead to his transfer to the PDP, when he informed reporters last week that he was unable to register for the party’s massive revalidation push.
