2023: Ayade’s Defection To APC Is Childish, PDP Can Never Loose Its Grip In Cross River — Reps Member
By Kingsley Agbor, Calabar
This is the account of the PEOPLE’S DEMOCRATIC PARTY – PDP Stakeholders Meeting, which took place on Friday, June 25, 2021 at Ikom. The venue was packed with key PDP figures who had come to correct strategic errors and reveal the party’s future orientation in Cross River State. One fact remains undisputed: Cross River State is a PDP stronghold, and nothing on the face of the Earth will change that.
Rt. Hon. Ntool Chris Agibe assured the people of Cross River State and Ikom that he is committed to ensuring that Ikom and Cross River State remain PDP strongholds. To put the first stone in the path of growth, the lawmaker settled all outstanding debts on behalf of the party, including three years’ rent payable for the party Secretariat. He also pledged to pay for two years in advance to avoid any rent-related distractions.
Despite the recent immature mass defection to the APC by Governor Ben Ayade and others, the political atmosphere in Cross River State has undoubtedly changed. “PDP CAN NEVER LOOSE ITS GRIP IN CROSS RIVER STATE,” one person said at the conference.
Rt. Hon. Ntool Agibe advises party members to remain calm and loyal as modalities are put in place to expedite the party’s agenda, which includes passing the leadership baton to the next generation of gladiators. As things stand, the PDP is ready to show the people a new way of administration, and Cross River State is on the verge of reclaiming its previous grandeur.
Mr. Julius Eyam, the chapter party chairman, reinforces his loyalty and belief in the party, noting that notwithstanding the recent defection incident, which lead many people wrong, the PDP will stay supreme over others.
Others who contributed to the discussion included Hon. Ofuka Abung, Comr. Njom Nyambi, Dr. S.E.N Ebaye, Pastor Tony Bassey, Mr. Innocent Bakim, Barr. Christian Ebaye, Hon. Emmanuel Assi, Mr. Chris Okim, Hon. Odu Ojong Ajiba, the Chapter Secretary, Reuben Nsed, and other top leaders representing various wards in the Ikom Local Government.
As they made their way home with goodie bags, the meeting instilled a fresh sense of hope and excitement in the attendees. The photo is courtesy of the party’s leadership.
