The primary election for Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency was held a few days ago on Monday 23rd of May and the transparency exhibited by the party and Aspirants is highly commendable.

I want to thank all the Delegates that came out and cast a vote for our future as a people of Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency. I also want to thank our great party, the PDP for such a transparent level playing field resulting in very credible process of electing flag bearers for our party. My appreciation also goes to my team, family, supporters, friends, and the countless volunteers for being there every step of the way. I could not have done this without you.

This is not the outcome we wanted or we worked so hard for, and I’m sorry that we did not win this election for the values we share and the vision we hold for our dear Constituency. This loss hurts. But please never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it.

Although I am disappointed with the outcome, I will continue my commitment to public service by advocacy in the halls of justice and fighting for the ideals and principles that will make our LGA and Federal Constituency stronger.

Indeed, I feel pride and gratitude for this wonderful campaign that we built together, this vast, diverse, creative, unruly, energised campaign. I am proud of the race my campaign has run. Standing up for our future is never easy, but we need to rise to the occasion for the future of our LGA and our Federal Constituency. For as former President Ronald Reagan of USA said, “the future doesn’t belong to the light-hearted, it belongs to the brave.”

I would like to congratulate Rt. Hon. Friday Okpechi on his victory as our Candidate and remind him that the people of Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency are hopeful for better representation and will hold him accountable.

It is my hope that our party wins the general elections to have Rt. Hon. Okpechi as our MHR. I also hope he will then dedicate himself to the principles and ideals that I fought so hard for. We need leaders that listen to the people and have the willingness to stand up for what is in the best interest of the people.

I would also like to thank Mr Ken Egbas, Rt. Hon. Fabian Okpa and Barr. John Ebokpo for running good campaigns. I would love to see all of us join hands with Rt. Hon. Okpechi to achieve victory for our party, the PDP in the general elections against the ruling APC.
