2023: Nigeria’s Umbrella Youth Body Sues For Rotation Of Power To Cross River South, Tasks Resolution of Gov’t/Labour Impasse

 

An umbrella youth body in Nigeria has sued for the rotation of power to Cross River South Senatorial District come 2023 general elections NEGROIDHAVEN can report authoritatively.

 

Youths under the aegis of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN on Thursday in Calabar the state capital city resolved that the occupant of the high office of Governor of Cross River be made exclusive to Cross River South in keeping with the rotation of political power across the three senatorial districts.

This resolution was arrived at during the NYCN One-day Stakeholders’ Meeting which was convened by Comr. Dan Obo Junior the state chair of NYCN and well attended by former and current leaders of the NYCN in the state.

During the Stakeholders’ Meeting which held at Youth House, Murtala Mohamed High Way, NYSC it was unanimously agreed that the Office of Governor of the state should be rotated exclusively to the state’s southern senatorial district.

The young stakeholders who spoke in turn observed that they were arriving at this conclusion for purposes of peaceful coexistence, equity and fair play amongst the sundry ethnicities which make up the State.

 

His words, ‘As young persons, we are interested in who governs us come 2023, and so we have taken a position and are asking political parties to take note. If they don’t abide by our resolution, we will resist them’, Dan Obo disclosed.

In a similar vein, the leadership of the NYCN in Cross River used the opportunity to task the state government to speedily resolve the ongoing Organised Labour industrial action.

 

Dan Obo while making the solemn charge said that the State Government has to sit with the leadership of labour unions and dialogue with them in the interest of the state.

 

Obo frowned at the manhandling of the women sweepers in Calabar last week by the Nigerian Police where they were sprayed tear-gas for protesting against the 6 months salary arrears owed them by the state government: ‘we totally condemn the tear-gassing of our parents. You know, when I when I heard about it as chairman, I felt bad, but like I keep saying that this government is not for protest, we don’t want to be at war with government, we want to build synergy. So, we call on government to pay our mothers their stipends’, Obo insisted.

Obo further asked the state government to keep its own part of the alleged bargain between her and the former agitators of the Bakassi Strike Force, BSF who protested to the Governor’s Office this week. He disclosed that the demonstration of these set of persons to the state capital early this week portends a security risk to all and sundry.
