The PDP Renaissance Movement has called on Nyesom Wike, the Rivers State Governor to run for President in 2023 to salvage the country from its present security challenges and economic doldrum.

The group made the call in Calabar in a communique following its meeting at the state’s party secretariat.

The communique was read by Gab Odu Oji and signed by about twelve members of the movement.
The group described Wike as a nationalist, a liberal democrat, a unifier and a visionary leader with character, content and proven competence.

Gab Oji said the country is in dire straits right now and needs a leader who can salvage the people and drive prosperity.
These are qualities the group believes Wike possesses.

“We call on Governor Nyesome Wike to declare for the 2023 presidential election to salvage Nigeria.
“He is a nationalist who believes in the unity of Nigeria and is very bold and courageous in confronting issues of national concerns.
“We are interested in a man who has character/content and can lead the country and we have found this in Wike”, he said.
He said based on his antecedents, Wike is the saviour who will salvage the country.

Also speaking, Asu Okang, one of the signatories said the APC has inflicted pains and penury across the country.
He added that the desire to ask Governor Wike to join the race is a stand and voice of the people.
