2023 Presidency: You Must Defect To APC With Some PDP Governors To Get Presidential Ticket — Aso Rock Cabal Tells Goodluck Jonathan
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has rejected some of the terms imposed on him by members of the Aso Rock (Presidency) cabal in exchange for the ruling All Progressives Congress’s (APC) presidential automatic ticket in 2023, WEE TALK NAIJA reports.
Jonathan had to publicly switch to the APC with certain governors from the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-South and South-East regions.
The powers behind the throne are the cabal, which includes some members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s extended family and associates.
This group is claimed to hold the President’s ear, influence policy, and choose who gets significant appointments.
WEE TALK NAIJA learnt from sources that, the former President rejected the requirements and informed the cabal that he would not seek re-election in 2023.
“However, guess what? He informed them that he will not run for office again. They are now enraged, accusing him of deception. “They stated he ultimately chose not to contest after obtaining part of his seized assets back and his wife’s monies returned to him,” a top source told WEE TALK NAIJA on Thursday
WEE TALK NAIJA gathered that, members of the ‘Aso Rock cabal’ guaranteed Jonathan the ruling APC’s presidential ticket in 2023.
The President was also warned by the cabal members not to pass over to the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, and the party’s national head, Bola Tinubu.
“Members of Buhari’s cabal have requested Jonathan to prepare the party’s ticket.” They stated that they do not want Tinubu or Osibanjo,” according to a presidential source.
The cabal had been lobbying Jonathan to defect to the APC, according to SaharaReporters.
Despite all the mud and calumny thrown at him and the PDP before the 2015 presidential election, which gave Buhari a historic victory over an incumbent, he was claimed to have stunned the northern elite and the cabal by his attitude toward the Buhari presidency.
Some cabal members were also impressed that, despite the Buhari administration’s egregious failures, Jonathan had not publicly chastised his predecessor or his administration, unlike former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Obasanjo had written open letters denouncing the Buhari administration and vocally chastised it whenever he could.
According to reports, Jonathan’s founding of ‘Almajiri’ schools in the North to lower a high number of out-of-school children earned him brownie points with the northern cabal in the APC, especially since most of it is now rotting away, even with a northerner as president.
