Few days before then, former President, General Olusegun Obasanjo was in Kaduna State, where Elrufai hosted his former boss at the government house.

In what appeared as alignment and re-alignment ahead of the 2023 Presidential elections.

Senator Tinubu who is a top member of APC, is rumoured to be gunning for Presidency, same for the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir Elrufai.

But, what is not clear is that, if Atiku will be giving it a trial again in 2023, haven lost his bid to be President to Major General Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 elections.

In some quarters, there are insinuations that, Atiku may want to peer with Tinubu, but the ticket may not fly because, it will be a Muslim-Muslim ticket. This will backfire as so many Christians will go against it.

Abiola/Kingibe ran on a Muslim-Muslim ticket in 1993, in an election that was later nullified by Babangida military government. But, at that time, Nigeria was not so divided along religious and ethnic sentiment as we have now.

Senator Bukola Saraki ran into trouble with Bola Tinubu in 2015 for oppositing similar Muslim-Muslim ticket, when Bola Tinubu wanted to be on the joint ticket with Buhari.

On elrufai’s part, his former boss, ex- President President Olusegun Obasanjo while addressing the press, commended Elrufai, that he is a good student, who is capable of leading the country.

Obasanjo’s statement was seen as a tactical endorsement for Elrufai 2023 Presidential bid, as against his own South-West brother, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu. However, Tinubu too is not stopping, haven seen that others with similar ambition have started seeking supports, he has also commenced nation wide consultation tour to who is who across the country.
