It is no longer news that the race for the office of President has been a trending topic in Nigeria lately especially as three top candidates are vying to assume Aso Rock next year. Among these three candidates is former Governor of Lagos State Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is the Presidential flagbearer of the ruling party APC. Since he won convincingly at the Primary, the Jagaban of Lagos has been receiving mixed reviews from supporters and rivals alike.
In a news report by BBC NEWS PIGDIN earlier today, a leader of the umbrella body of Yoruba Self Determination groups, Professor Banji Akintoye revealed that the decision of Northern Governors to back Bola Tinubu for the Presidential ticket is suspicious. He said that many things happen in politics and only those who understand the system can detect it. He stated that although Tinubu will not be the first Yoruba person to become President in Nigeria, if he eventually wins, it doesn’t mean that they will allow him to work.
According to Akintoye, plans have been concluded to rig the Presidential elections in favour of Atiku (PDP) and he isn’t sure Tinubu will win. He concluded that Asiwaju is one of them of which they cannot discard, but his only prayer is that God should protect him
