The NYCN CRS held her Maiden youth convention yesterday 3/12/2021 at the youth house in calabar

An event chaired by Dr Ela Ericbona Ushie started at 1:38PM, And In attendance was Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, Rt Hon George Obenechi, Dr Ela Ericbona Ushie, His royal Majesty Obol opon of Ugep, Hon Oko Sunday Ebeku (aka Otolo), Effiom Effiwatt, Barr First Baba Isa, Dr Richard Orim, Great Ogban Engr Paul Obi, Gideon Mbukpa, members of CRS youth parliament, NYCN CRS EXCO, Delegates of 18 LGAs ETC


Dr Ela Ericbona declaring the event Open admonished the youths to be steadfast in the struggle for the emancipation of Cross River youths while thanking the leadership of NYCN-CRS for changing the narratives as regards youths activities and achieved goals so far


I am always available and open to support and assist this youths in all facet that will bring honor to this generation said Dr Ela

His Royal Majesty Obol opon of Ugep and paramount ruler of yakurr admonishes the youths of Cross River State to stay away from social vices capable of being a barrier to the struggle.


Continuing, the Obol Opon advises all to be of good conduct while citing example of the leadership Crisis in yakurr.


Violence has never solve a problem but rather constant dialogue is a recommended measure to solve crisis at any level said Obol Opon


Amb Nkoyo applauded Dan Obo led NYCN EXCO for the great initiative while emphatically stating that the Nigeria population is mainly youths and dismissing the older people while looking for powerful and relevancy is out of place ..


Continuing Amb Nkoyo said the easiest way to negotiate for power is to present a chater of demands, proposal or complain.


According to Nkoyo, taking over leadership is not a function of how forceful you are but being deliberate and resourcesful hence building of partnership is the surest way because relevancy doesn’t come over night

CRS Commissioner for social housing Hon George Obenechi in his remark reiterated that youths are the enemies of themselves. Given that the bring down syndrome is now common amongst the Youths and if something urgently is not done about it the whole struggle will be exercise in futility


According the commissioner, the youths should learn to support themselves at all times irrespective of party or social affiliations


University of calabar governing council member,Dr Richard Orim while presenting his address urged all the youths to speak in one voice with a common goal instead of seeking individual/personal benefits


Dr Orim while applauding the leadership of the youths admonishes all to support Dan Obo Jnr led leadership to enable the body attain greater heights in all sectors


General Manager of cross river state waste management Hon Oko Sunday Ebeku (aka Otolo) Urges the leaders to carry the youths along in all ramifications while lauding the NYCN for this initiative

A popular Cross River born lawyer, Barrister First Baba Isa (FBI) engaged the youths on model and mentorship


FBI while dissecting the concept of mentorship said Mentoring should not be based on benefits but constant learning of process and not just the proceed as he advises all to find a mentor irrespective of proximity


Mentors should not be chosen based on material benefits alone said FBI


Comrade Dan Obo Jnr in his vote of thanks appreciated the speakers, traditional rulers and youths for travelling far and wide to grace the maiden and auspicious event while reassuring all of Youths readiness to take over governance and leadership


Highpoints of the occasion was a dance presentation, interactive session between panelists and audience, photo sessions of respective LGAs and barbecue party ETC
