Anxiety As Supreme Court Gives Final Judgement on C-River PDP Crisis, Senate President Swears In 4 Newly Elected Senators, Reject Steve Odey

The battle for supremacy and who will control the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) structures in Cross River State continues as President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan rejected Steve Odey as Cross River Senator-Elect.

WeetalknaijaBlog can authoritavely report that, there are increasing tensions in Cross River State as the people await the verdicts of the Supreme Court today.

WeetalknaijaBlog gathered that similar incident happened in Imo North Bye-Election, were declaration was made without a candidate.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has on 5th December, 2020 conducted Bye-Election across the country, which Cross River State participated in the process.

In Cross River North Bye-Election, the results sheets as released by INEC, PDP had no name, while other parties had their names against thier parties logos.

The Case Appealed by Ayade’s faction of PDP in CRS, on Party Structures, comes up at the Supreme Court, today.

There have been a parallel list for both ward and chapter executives of PDP in the state.

A development that led both factions to approach court seeking legitimacy of their list. The faction of National Assembly members had won at both the High Court and Court of Appeal.

The faction loyal to the governor had approached the Supreme Court to nullify the decision of the appellant court.

This matter when decided, will put to rest, which faction has the Authentic PDP Structure in CRS.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Lawan, Senate President has sworn in four senators, leaving Cross River North and Imo North vacant pending court judgement.

Senators-Elect sworn in by Nigerian Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, include; Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, representing Bayelsa West.

Cleopas Moses, representing Bayelsa Central.

Prof Nora Dadu’u representing Plateau South and Tokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East.

While Imo North and Cross River North were excluded pending court judgement.
