APC :…Says PDP Is Home For All
A member of the Benue State House of Assembly representing Makurdi North, Hon Thomas Kwagh-Kudi has dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC and joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Hon Kwagh-Kudi along with six other staunch members of the APC from the constituency today announced their defection to the PDP when they met with Governor Samuel Ortom at Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.
The others are Alexander Unule, Thaddeus Usende, Saawuan Uhembe, Philip Yondo, Pahav Udekor and David Anum.
In his speech, Kwagh-Kudi said his decision to dump APC and pitch tent with PDP was to enable him join hands with Governor Ortom who he said has done so much to develop the state and protect the people against external forces.
The House of Assembly member who promised to work hard for the success of the PDP in the forthcoming elections, said his former political party, the APC lacks the capacity to provide the desired leadership at all levels.
Also speaking, Mr. Alexander Anule, Thaddeus Usende and David Anum stated that the Governor Ortom has put in a lot of efforts to liberate Benue people from herdsmen attacks, saying it was only fair for them to support him to do more.
Responding, Governor Samuel Ortom thanked Hon Kwagh-Kudi and the others for the right steps they have taken by joining the PDP to provide development for the people of Benue State.
The Governor assured them that just like he left APC for PDP and was given equal opportunity to contest and win election, they would enjoy similar benefits as other members of the party.
Another Serving Senator Dumps APC
In other news, serving Senator Akwashiki Godiya of the APC, from Nasarawa state has defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) today.
Senator Akwashiki stormed the SDP national secretariat with over three thousand supporters in company of some current serving and former state assembly members of APC.
Akwashiki was received by the National Chairman of SDP; Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam and other national officers of the party. The senator .
Senator Ibrahim Dumps APC, Defects To NNPP
In another development, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC and defected to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Shekarau, a former Governor of Kano State who is now Senator representing Kano Central Senatorial district, hinged his decision to dump the ruling party on injustice and unfairness by Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
His defection was announced by the Senate President, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, after the senate Chamber resumed from a two hour-closed door meeting on Wednesday.
The resignation letter read: “I am defecting from the APC to my new party, the New Nigeria Peoples Party as a result of unfairness, injustice by Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
“For the past two years there has been an unresolved crisis in the Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, hence, I have resigned my membership.”
