Over twenty thousand members of APC have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The APC members defected to PDP on Sunday, in Avrugo and neighboring ward in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The former vice chairman of the LGA, Honourable Collins Adama, who led other party members to defect to the PDP said the APC had failed Nigerians.

According to him, it was time for Nigerians to vote out bad leadership in the 2023 general election, stressing that, any mistake made now will spell doom for the nation.

Adamu commended the leadership style of the stakeholders of the local government and praised the state and national level of the leading opposition party for electing candidates that can deliver dividend of democracy to all nooks and crannies of the nation.

The defectors were received into the PDP family by Igalamela/Odolu Local Government PDP Chairman, Honourable Attai Salifu and the party’s state assembly candidate, Honourable Zakito Umar, who said the ruling APC should be ready to pack their load from both Kogi State and at the national level.

Salifu in his address admonished other wards and polling units in the local government to emulate what was happening in Avurgo, adding that the PDP would win the 2023 general election.

On his part, the former executive chairman of the local government, who doubles as the state assembly candidate, Umar, said when he was in power, his administration executed nine physical infrastructural projects in Avrugo ward.

He listed some of the physical infrastructural projects to include construction of bridges, culvert , boreholes, primary health care centres and recreational centres across the length and breath of the ward.

If elected into the Kogi State House of Assembly, Umar promised to give the people effective and people oriented representation.

The women leader of the local government, Honourable Mary Atebije, described Umar as a man of competence and capacity adding that he was an administrator per excellence. She urged the electorates to believe in him because he has been tested and trusted in the local government.

 

Ex-Reps member, Chinenye Ike, hundreds of supporters return to PDP

In the other news, a former member of the National Assembly and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Chinenye Ike has returned to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State.

He dumped the opposition APC for the PDP alongside hundreds of his loyalists across the electoral wards of Isiala Ngwa North and Isiala Ngwa South local government areas in Abia State.

Mr Ike, who represented Isiala Ngwa North and Isiala Ngwa South federal constituency in the House of Representatives between 2007 to 2015, said his return to the PDP was borne out of the love and conviction he had over the candidacy of Professor Uche Ikonne to deliver dividends of democracy to the Abia people.

Being the best among his opponents in quality, qualification, administrative ability, leadership charisma and pragmatism, democracy inclination, policy orientation, wealth creation and growth and stability, I can tell you for free that no other has the strength to make Abia a centerpiece of development than Professor Uche Ikonne,” he posited.

Continuing, the ex-federal lawmaker called on all and sundry to embrace Ikonne for a better Abia, and expressed gratitude to the Governor of the State, Okezie Ikpeazu for the choice of Professor Ikonne to succeed him in 2023.

Ike also thanked the leadership of the PDP in Abia State for the opportunity to reunite with his main political family, assuring the State leadership of his unflinching support to build the party to an enviable height.

Speaking while welcoming the ex-Reps member, Ikonne assured him that all his rights and privileges will be given to him and his teeming supporters as they will not be discriminated against.

He described Hon Chinenye Ike as a veritable partner in progress and urged the people of the area to throw their weight behind him.

On his part, the State Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Chief Obinna Nwachukwu flanked by Isiala Ngwa North LGA party chairman, Elder Sam Esindu described Hon Chinenye Ike as a political Iroko with lots of class and clout, adding that his decision to return the Peoples Democratic Party has added credence towards the actualization of victory for Professor Uche Ikonne and other PDP candidates in next year’s general elections.

Nwachukwu assured the ex-parliamentarian and his teeming supporters of full inclusion in all programs and activities of the party in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area.

In another development, APC Legal Adviser, publicity head, others defect to PDP in Bayelsa

Amakiri Obaze, the assistant legal counsel for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Yenagoa Local Government Area, and his supporters have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is currently in power in the state, Weetalknaija.com.ng reports.

Additionally, Ibu Williams Mizodome, the Director of Media and Publicity for the House of Representative campaign team for the candidate for the Ogbia Federal Constituency, lured some APC members to the PDP

While Mizodome, who doubled as the secretary of the Obhan Emeyal Traditional Council, announced his defection at the Ward Headquarters of the PDP in Emeyal ll and was received by the ward chairman, Elder Anyama Igobasi, and the local government chairman, Anyam Moses.

Weetalknaija.com.ng learned that Obaze, who was the assistant legal dviser of the APC in Yenagoa Local Government Council, announced his defection through a resignation letter to the ward chairman Obaze blamed his defection from the APC to the PDP on recent party developments that are at odds with the fundamental beliefs that form the basis of his allegiance to the party.

His defection letter, dated September 17, 2022, and made available to Weetalknaija.com.ng on Monday.

In part, his letter stated that “I also saw reasons with my supporters for us to move back to the PDP in view of the numerous achievements that have been recorded in the last few years by the administration of Gov. Diri.”

Mizodome, who was also the Accord Party’s candidate for the 2019 House of Assembly election, said in his address announcing his defection to the PDP that his decision was motivated by the democratic dividend brought to Ogbia by the current administration of Governor Douye Diri.

The state’s publicity secretary, Hon. Ebiye Ogoli, the PDP candidate for the House of Representatives from the Ogbia federal constituency, Hon. Eto Okirnya, the former PDP Caucus Chairman, Chief Gabriel Michael Ogbara, the PDP candidate for the House of Assembly from Ogbia Constituency 3, the director of transportation government staff, Hon. Ebiegberi Diri, Hon. Ebikeme Diri, as well as chiefs and elders stated that “We are appreciative and prepared to provide our fair share to the governance of humankind”.

Candidate for the PDP House of Assembly in Ogbia Constituency 3 Gabriel Michael Ogbara stated in his brief that he would include Ibu in his campaign team along with all other party members.

Noting that PDP is his original party, he expresses his happiness that Ibu has returned to support the prosperous administration led by Governor Douye Diri.
