Any Southern State That Bans Open Grazing Will Have No Peace – Fulani Group Challenges Southern Governors
Gan Allah Fulani Development Association (GAFDAN), a pro-Fulani group, has claimed that any state that prohibits open grazing in Southern Nigeria will have no peace.
The governors of the 17 southern states met on Monday last week and unanimously resolved to put an end to open grazing in the region, according to POLITICS NIGERIA. They set a September 1st deadline for the cessation of open grazing and stated their complete support for a presidential rotation to the south in 2023.
The restriction has been dubbed a “Call to Anarchy” by GAFDAN, who believes it will jeopardize the South’s chances of becoming the country’s president in 2023.
Ibrahim Abdullahi, the group’s National Secretary, said, “The forum’s position is really bad because you don’t halt a system unless you have presented an alternative to it.”
We are not opposed to any new technique of animal husbandry since we believe the current system is antiquated, but you can’t just end it without a replacement. As a result, given the current Nigerian framework, the governors’ position is basically impossible.”
“The governors’ declaration is more political than pragmatic. It’s regrettable that someone may use the livelihood of millions of Nigerians to play politics. If you prohibit open grazing in the South, you are effectively telling those folks to relocate to the North or to other parts of the country. What if the Northerners ask the Southerners to leave as well?”
You can’t expect peace if you stop people from doing what they want to do. The consequence is that Nigeria’s unity will be called into doubt. You don’t expect those who will be impacted to return to the North and coexist peacefully with individuals from the South who live in the North,” he said.
Big joke as perceived by all.Anyway for reality sake, let’s see how it unfolds. The world is watching, the Nigerian non Fulani tribes are battle ready in self defense/boundary defense.NO SHAKING IJN!!!.
