BREAKING!!! Ayade’s Former Commissioner Emerges PDP Flag Bearer For Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency By-Election

 

 

Former Commissioner to Governor Ben Ayade on New Cities Development, Mike Usibe has emerged as the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency by-election.

Fellow Cross Riverians,

We present to you Hon. Michael Ede Usibe, the Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party for the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency by-election. Usibe emerged through a transparent, credible free and fair primary election which held at Ogoja, the constituency headquarter, on Thursday 3rd February 2022, after an undoubtedly overwhelming victory.

Recall that going to the pool, PDP had four aspirants;

 

• Mrs. Margaret Odey

• Mr. Charles Ofoboche

• Barr. Godwin Offiono

• Hon. Mike Usibe

 

In the spirit of sportsmanship, prior to the 3rd February primary election, Mr. Charles Ofoboche withdrew from the race on the 1st of February 2022, while the trio had to slog it out in what has been described by all participants and witnesses as “the best primary election ever held in the history of the party in Cross River State,” after accreditation and voting, the aspirants scored the following;

• MARGARET ODEY – Five (5) votes.

 

• GODWIN OFFIONO – Forty Five (45) votes.

 

• MICHAEL USIBE – One Hundred and Eighty-four (184) votes.

 

After all constitutional/due processes were met, Hon. Michael Ede Usibe was declared winner and flag bearer of the PDP for the 26th February 2022 By-election.

 

In their various remarks, the other aspirants congratulated Usibe, promised to remain committed and work with love for the party, hailing the electoral panel and INEC observers/monitoring team for a credible, fair and transparent election.

 

In his response, the PDP candidate thanked God, his supporters, and the other aspirants, for their contribution and commitment to the party, and prayed them to stand firm, reunite the different teams and strategize against the common opponents, to ensure that the PDP retains the seat which became vacant after the elevation of their leader Distinguished Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe.

Speaking to the cheering supporters outside, Usibe said; _”Let me sincerely thank you all for this show of love and support, as we rejoice over this victory, let us remain prayerful, resilient and dogged. For the different groups, this is the time we need to start building a harmonized campaign team for the future, based on capacity, skills, talents, love, unity, sagacity and victory mindedness, knowing that for this Constituency’s future, our party must compete and win successfully on the basis of delibrate strategy.”_

 

_”If there is anyone out there who still doubt that Ogoja/Yala is a place where all things are possible, who still wonder if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, today is your answer. God has given us a great leader in Sen. Jarigbe, we must support him in growing stronger.”_ – Usibe

He admonished the electorates to believe in him, vote for the PDP massively on the 26th February 2022, to enable him consolidate on the gains of Distinguished Senator Jarigbe Agom, says the PDP is the only party that can deliver true Democracy and its dividends.
