President Muhammadu Buhari’s two media aides issued contradictory statements about the armed robbery attack on the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, creating confusion in the Presidency and among the general public.

Weetalknaija previously announced that the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja was allegedly invaded by a gang of armed robbers who made off with a large sum of money.

According to reports, the residences of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, and an administrative officer, Abubakar Maikano, were attacked inside the Villa’s grounds.

Garba Shehu, the presidential spokesperson, responded to the news by saying that the Chief of Staff confirmed that an attempt to burgle his house occurred around 3 a.m. on Monday morning, but that the attempt was unsuccessful. He went on to say that Gambari’s house is across the street from the Villa and that there is no need to be concerned.

“The Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, has confirmed that there was a “foolish attempt” to break into his home at 3:00 a.m. this morning, but it was unsuccessful,” he wrote.

“Professor Gambari, whose home is on a street adjacent to the Villa, has told me that the incident is not a cause for concern.” Despite the fact that a search by DAILY GIST shows Garba Shehu has deleted the tweet about the attempted robbery of another Aso Rock official’s home, The perpetrator in the incident was caught on Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), according to the presidential spokesperson, and the police were on his tail. It’s unclear if Shehu expunged that section because he thought it would jeopardize the investigation, which he said was still underway. In his own reaction to the news that armed robbers invaded the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Sunday and carted away several valuable things, President Muhammadu Buhari’s personal assistant on new media, Bashir Ahmad, characterized the story as “exclusive fake news.”
