BREAKING!! Crisis Looms As Governor Ortom Dares Buhari, Direct All Benue Residents To Defend Themselves Against Fulani Bandits

We’ve had enough, we can’t keep crying; defend yourselves against assassins. Benue Governor Warns Residents About Fulani Herders

Despite the fact that the state was under siege by armed herdsmen, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State remarked over the weekend that there was no need for anyone to cry or complain since all they had to do was stand up and protect themselves.

He stated that the people of the state have had enough of community massacres, sackings, and looting, and that even Israel, God’s chosen heritage, would not allow her people to be slain in such a manner without defense.

At a burial ritual for Mama Enenu Ebute, mother of Justice Mary Abounu, wife of Benue State Deputy Governor, Mr. Benson Abounu, held in Adoka, Otukpo Local Government Area of the state, the Governor spoke.

He was reacting to an uptick in armed herdsmen militia attacks and killings in sections of the state, as well as the displacement of farmers and the threat it presented to the country’s food security.

The Governor bemoaned the fact that “over 100 villages in Benue State have been sacked and over one million of our people have been displaced by marauding herdsmen, portending peril for our state, which is the nation’s food basket.”

“At the present, we are experiencing a major food crisis because our farmers are being slain by terrorists, and they are unable to go to their farms to cultivate their crops.

“We’ve had enough of this; we can’t keep crying, and we must all stand up for ourselves. You can’t keep sitting in your houses and allowing these people to kill you.”

The Governor asked patriotic Nigerians to speak out against the ills ripping the country apart, while urging the people of the state to abandon partisanship and join hands with his government to save the state from the invaders.

He also stressed the need of security agents’ cooperation and coordination in the fight against the country’s rising instability, saying that all hands must be on deck to save the country.
