BREAKING!! Five Killed As Youths Clash Over 2023 Election Disagreement
WeetalknaijaBlog can authoritavely report that, no fever than five people have been killed in a clash between youths over a disagreement about the 2023 election.
A clash involving factional members of the All Progressives Congress in Oko-Baba, Lagos State’s Mainland Local Government Area, has claimed the lives of five people.
Residents scurried for safety as hoodlums fought with various weapons, including guns, sticks, and machetes, during the clash, which began around 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, when our journalist visited the area, he noticed a large number of police officers.
A Black Maria was also stationed at the roundabout, where a smoldering automobile remained.
The fracas began, according to a witness who only provided his name as Saleh, when supporters of council Chairman Omolola Essien sought to erect her re-election banner at the Oko-Baba Roundabout.
“The hoodlums complained that the chairman had done nothing in their neighborhood since she was elected,” he claimed. The supporters were enraged and left before the banner could be erected. However, a few minutes later, armed vigilantes loyal to the chairman arrived.
“The two factions got into a yelling war, and the vigilantes fired gunshots. Five people were killed, and another five are in the hospital being treated. The battle is over the APC primary election in the council this week.”
Essien, the chairman, accused her opponent for the chaos.
“My driver and his brother went to the roundabout to put up my flag that had fallen,” she explained. My opponent’s banner was also present, but I believe his people purposefully knocked down my banner. We were completely unaware that his sons were present. Gunshots were heard as my driver’s brother was attempting to raise my banner. When the lads arrived, they began fire.
“Around the roundabout, some mallams died. Some of our team members were also hurt. They set fire to my car. I believe five people perished.”
CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the state police spokesperson, promised to release a statement on the incident.
