Iba Gani Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, claimed on Sunday that the massacre of over 50 persons in Igangan town, Ibarapa, Oke Ogun area of Oyo state indicates that war is imminent in the country.

Adams warned Fulani herdsmen and bandits to stay away from the southwest or face serious pushback, while denouncing the horrible death of innocent citizens of the town.

Over 50 people were killed, automobiles were burned, and over 20 buildings were torched in the early hours of Sunday, bringing the entire town of Igangan and its environs to its knees.

Adams declared war on the Southwest after word of the fatalities and destruction reached him, including gruesome footage of the atrocity.

He claimed the North had wreaked havoc on the region and urged people to stand up and protect themselves “without looking back.”

“You rise and defend yourself in a circumstance like this. When the bandits started slaughtering our people in Igangan today, where were the cops?

“Even the palace of Asigangan of Igangan land, Oba Adewuyi Olaoye, was not spared, and the monarch was carried away by the bandits, according to reports.

“Three days ago, Gen. Kunle Togun(Retd), Director-General of Oyo State Southwest Security Network Amotekun, raised the alert that herdsmen had invaded the southwest.

“I backed up his claims and demanded immediate surveillance across the Southwest. With the current attack on the Igangan people, it is clear that Fulani herdsmen are on a pre-planned mission to kill, maim, and annihilate the southwest.

“This is one slaughter too many; I will not fold my arms in the face of the bloodshed of innocent people in Igangan.

“Now that the North has launched war on the Southwest, we will never be silent or complacent about the homicide that is taking place there. I’d want to call on all of the governors in the Southwest, as well as the traditional rulers, to step up to the plate.”

Criminal herders should keep away from the region, according to the Yoruba generalissimo, because the Southwest can no longer accommodate them. Residents in the area will continue to be safe thanks to the efforts of the OPC and other local security personnel.

“Those slaughtered in Igangan town have families and friends, blood runs through their veins, and their lives were cut short in an instant by killer herdsmen and bandits in their own home.”

According to intel in Adams’ possession, bandits and killer herdsmen have infiltrated the Southwest, putting security forces to the test.

He asked all governors to strengthen their states’ security in order to ensure adequate protection for the region’s citizens.
