BREAKING!! Heavy Gunshots On Abakaliki-Enugu Highway

Vehicle and passenger traffic on the Enugu-Abakaliki expressway has been halted after gunmen opened fire on the Ezilo axis of the highway.
The perpetrators of the shootings were not immediately identified.

However, it was previously recorded that two people were killed in a revived boundary dispute between the Ezillo and Iyionu communities.
Both communities are located in the state’s Ishielu local government district.
It was not immediately clear whether the shooting was related to the squabble.

Passengers have been stuck at Okpoto for around an hour, according to Afam Cyprian, who was traveling to Enugu.

Military patrol vans were patrolling the highway, he said, but they were ordered not to proceed.

“A lot of people are searching for a different path to follow. Some people have returned to Afikpo Lane. He explained, “I’m searching for a way to get back to Abakaliki.”
Loveth Odah, a police spokesperson, confirmed the comment.

She said that Aliyu Garba, the Police Commissioner, had deployed police patrol teams to restore order and open the road to users.
She claims, however, that the shooting is unrelated to the boundary conflict since the contested land is not near the highway.
