Human Rights Watch : Court adjourned case of ‘child molestation’ in Lagos to 19th February

Determine to ensure that every child’s safety in Africa and in the entire world is guarantee, the President of the Human Rights Watch and Youths Empowerment Foundation (HRWYEF), and the Nigerian Peace Ambassador to Finland, Ambassador Godwin Agim Apple has expressed gratitude to the efforts of the NGO in ensuring that all domestic violence related cases are timely attended to.

President Agim who made the commendation in Finland, after receiving a report on the health condition of the housemaid who was manhandled with a knife and rod by her madam, Mrs Ijeoma Esther Amaechi in Lagos, said the decision made by the NGO to charge the matter to court became necessary so as to use the culprit as a warning to others.

Lamenting, the NGO Secretary General, Mr Unimuke Valentine Saint, Esq (cpp.css.ipma) said the woman is not only wicked, but deserves to be sentence to life imprisonment for the heinous crime she committed.

“Yesterday, I was at Cottage Hospital, Area F Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos State with some provisions and clothes to ensure that the housemaid health condition is okay. But, I was so unfortunate that before I could arrived the Hospital, the housemaid was discharged and the relatives has taken her home”, Unimuke said.

Mr. Valentine who was overwhelmed with excitement by a warmly welcomed he received from the hospital staff, according to Valentine, the staffs appreciated the good work of the foundation, adding that even Area F. Police Command “were I visited to appreciate the police effort, they were equally happy for the quick actions taken by the foundation.

However, the matter was adjourned to 19th, February, 2020 for trial. Lawyers from the foundation will be in court that day to ensure the lady get justice.
