BREAKING!!! Peter Obi Emerges Labour Party Presidential Candidate

 

Former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, has emerged the presidential candidate of the Labour Party of Nigeria for the 2023 elections.

He was elected unopposed early Monday afternoon, May 30, 2022, during the party’s National Convention, which is on-going at Orchid Hotel, Asaba, Delta State.

WeetalknaijaBlog reports that the coast became clear for Obi when his challenger, erudite political economist, Prof. Pat Utomi, stepped down for him, saying: “Obi must be given the opportunity to govern this country.”

The Labour Party had crashed on Friday night, May 27, 2022 – hours after Obi, a popular 2023 presidential aspirant, joined the party.

Obi, who resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday, had announced his switch to Labour Party on Friday evening, urging Nigerians, particularly the youth, to join him in his news political party.

Atiku Global Mass Movement (AGMM) through its National Coordinator , Mr. Hilary I. Nworie has congratulated His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (Waziri Adamawa) for securing the presidential ticket of people’s democratic party in the primaries conducted on the 28-29 May, 2022 at Moshid Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

Chief Nworie who was also a key member of Atiku Presidential campaign committee in the 2019 presidential election said that Atiku’s victory represents the wishes of all Nigerians in the forthcoming presidential election in 2023.

*Atiku will be contesting for the highest office in the land for the sixth time having lost to President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling APC in the 2019 polls.

He was elected as the PDP candidate at the party’s primary held on Saturday at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, where hundreds of delegates voted for the aspirants of their choice.

The 75-year-old polled 371 votes to win the party’s ticket ahead of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State who scored 237 votes to come second in the contest.

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki (70); Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel (38), Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed (38), Former Senate President Pius Anyim (14), Mrs Tari Diana Oliver (One), and Mr Sam Ohuabunwa (1) shared the remainder of the valid votes.
