BREAKING!! Tension Everywhere As Fulani Herdsmen Storm Ogun Community For Reprisal Attack, Kill Mother, Child, Set Houses On Fire

 

Among the three people killed in their huts was a mother and her boy, while two people were said to be in critical condition after the herdsmen shot them. An undisclosed number of herdsmen attacked the Ogun community in the early hours of Saturday. In the Yewa-North Local Government area of Ogun State, they attacked Igbooro, Oja-Odan, killing three and injuring two villagers.

Allegedly, the marauding herdsmen invaded the village, shut down at Eggua in Oja-Odan about 11 pm on Friday, fired indiscriminately, and set three houses and storehouses in the village ablaze. Among the three people killed in their huts was a mother and her boy, while two people were said to be in critical condition after the herdsmen shot them.

It was also learned that several individuals suffered varying degrees of injuries, including children. The attack took place barely 24 hours after the deaths of five people in Owode Ketu, Ogun State.

Confirming the incident, Abidemi Akorede, Baale of Igbooro, said that he had counted three corpses by the time he spoke to our correspondent on Saturday morning. Akorede said that two villagers, a man and a woman, were rushed to a nearby hospital after being wounded by gunshots. “The village head said, “Our village was invaded last night by some Fulani herdsmen. As they arrived, several houses were set ablaze and they began firing sporadically, killing a child where he was hiding.

They hacked to death a mother and her boy. I counted three bodies, two were rushed to the hospital, and after they were wounded, they were in critical condition. “They did not come with their cattle for grazing. They just stormed the village, killed people, and destroyed a lot of property. “Three houses were set ablaze and one commercial bus. Silos were also burnt with the grains.”

When contacted the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident. Oyeyemi said a team of policemen has been drafted to the scene to ensure the safety of lives and property.

He said, “we are aware and the command has deployed policemen to the place.”
