The Cross River State Government under the leadership and watch of Senator Professor Ben Ayade has through the State’s Agency for the Control of Aids (SACA) donated consumables to the HIV/AIDS Unit of the State’s General Hospital Calabar.
Presenting the items on behalf of His Excellency was the Director General of SACA Dr Etcheri Ansa and one of the Board’s Directors Mr Ntem Kris. Dr Etcheri in her message from the Pro Health Governor to the site coordinator applauded the Unit for standing firm and working so hard to contribute to the drastic reduction of the State’s prevalence rate to 2%.
“The Government of Sen Prof Ben Ayade remains proud of the State’s HIV/AIDS prevalence rate so far but i want to use this opportunity to charge you to continue working hard especially in this period of COVID-19 because our priority in SACA now is to ensure that no cross riverian with any record of HIV/AIDS contract the said virus as we’ll continue to do our best through the usual and unflinching support of our amiable Governor and his dear wife to provide consumables, medical care and attention regularly to everyone who has a record of HIV/AIDS. We’ll continue to preach and let the world know that contracting HIV/AIDS is never a death warrant as they’re more deadlier diseases than AIDS”.
Receiving the items, the Site Coordinator Mrs Agnes Ita on behalf of the Unit thanked and appreciated the Governor for his numerous supports and efforts so far in the Health Sector stating that the State has never got it this best in the Health Sector like they’re doing now in Sen Ben Ayade’s tenure. “The Governor has paid so much attention to the health sector and this has restored the lost hopes and brought back confidence to cross riverians who will rather run to the hospital in case of any ailment now than indulging in self medication. We were in desperate need of nose masks, hand sanitizers and other consumables but today through His Excellency’s magnanimity, we have them in surplus and will religiously distribute same to all our patients as some don’t have and can’t even afford them”.
Pharmacist Abigail Eko representing FHI360 appreciated the efforts of the Governor stating that he still remains the best and most health supporting State Governor so far judging from their records. The items donated includes; Toilet tissue, Cotton wool, Hand sanitizers, Nose masks, Methylated spirit, Morning fresh, Cartons of Anti Malaria drugs for both adults and children, Cartons of latex gloves, disposal gowns for doctors and nurses, etc with a promise to donate same to all other HIV/AIDS Units across the State.
