Unrest In Calabar As Raging Gunmen Kidnapped 3, Despite Operation ‘Akpakwu’

Despite beefing up security in the state with the launched of “Operation Akpakwu“, to ensure safer environment, WeetalknaijaBlog can authoritavely report that no fewer than three persons have reportedly been Kidnapped in Calabar, the state capital.

 

WeetalknaijaBlog gathered that, among the victims include, a Medical Doctor, Bolt Driver and a Cement Dealer.

 

PARADISE NEWS gathered that the medical doctor, Dr Vincent Maduka, was abducted on Wednesday night, December 9, 2020, at about 8:00pm along Goodluck Jonathan Bypass, Calabar Municipality.

Dr. Maduka who is a consultant cardiologist at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, joins the long list of medical personnel that have been kidnapped in the year 2020 alone.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday evening, December 8, 2020, one Mr Afaene Joshua, a major cement distributor, was kidnapped at the Lafarge warehouse, along Parliamentary Extension in Calabar Municipal local government area.

The third person kidnapped was an unnamed Bolt driver. He was said to have been kidnapped after dropping off a passenger within State Housing Estate, on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.

My cousin who’s a Bolt Driver was kidnapped close to master cut in state housing yesterday, yet operation AKPAKWU were doing stop and search in this same town”, Harmony Odwong shared on Facebook.

The abduction of Dr. Vincent Maduka has prompted the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Cross River State Chapter to embark on an indefinite strike.

Recall that medical doctors in the state have vowed to down their tools if any of their member is being kidnapped in the state.

Recall also that on Monday, the Operation Akpakwu, made up of Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Society and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), arrested and paraded a suspected Notorious Kidnapper, Mr. Etim Etim Bassey, who have been on most wanted list.

Bassey was said to have been spotted with his gang around the Anantigha axist of Calabar South, when Operation Akpakwu swung in, comb the place and napped him.
