CNPP Sends Goodwill Message To Nigerians At Easter

 

The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) in conjunction with (178) pressure groups (still counting), who share in the philosophy of good governance, equity and justice, transparency and accountability of leadership, hereby felicitate with the Christians across the State on the triumphant resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave.
We are not unaware of the debilitating challenges our people in general and the church in particular are going through , such as insecurity, emasculating hardship, unemployment, armed robbery, incessant kidnappings, rape and all forms of abuses as if we are in a lawless society.

We urge our people to see the sufferings we are going through as a huge sacrifice are have to pay now for a better, prosperous and egalitarian society of our dream, if we learn our lesson from our previous mistakes. Remember that this is not time to apportion blame because according to a rebound poet named – John Pepper Clark, “We are all casualties”

The way forward from our present quagmire is that we should collectively resolve to take our destiny in our hands by getting actively involved in all legitimate processes that will lead to the emergence of who become our President, Senators, Members of House of Representatives, Members of State Assembly, Local Government and Councilors.
We want to admonish the Church to help correct the erroneous believe that Political Leadership is “wordly” “evil” “satanic” therefore, believers should distance themselves from it. The Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN), Penticostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) and others should please, help change this narrative.
Bretheren should please register and obtain their permenant voter’s card (PVC) to be able to vote for candidates of their choice. Furthermore, Brethren should join political parties with clear ideology that seeks to add value to the “common man” while we count on the prayers of the Church and encourage her Members to be active participants in all elections and should not sell their votes.

To the electoral umpire, the Independant National Electoral Commission, (INEC), We want to charge you to be upright, firm, courageous and apolitical, as much as possible so as not to subvert the will of the people. We laud your innovation towards improving electioneering in Nigeria, through the use of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS) which is beginning to give credibility to election as can be seen from the most recent bye-elections in Ogoja/Yala House of Representatives and the Akpabuyo State House. Be reminded that the pen with which we are writing to commend you today, will be the same pen we shall write to condermn you if you suddenly compromise.

Finally, to our teaming vibrant, innovative, resilient youth out there, be weary of criminal elements whose stock in trade is to forment trouble and distabilize the State. Say “No” to violence, Electoral fraud, drug abuse and all forms of criminality because the youth are the majority stakeholders in politics because of their population. Get involved. Join any political party of your choice and support candidates whose manifestoes are youth friendly James Ene Henshaw’s Book titled “This is our Chance” should be a strong reminder to our youths.
