CNPP Warns Cross River APC Over Move To Impose Inok Edim As Odukpani/Calabar Municipal Reps Consensus Candidate

The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties, CNPP, Cross River State chapter has warned the APC leadership and state Governor, Ben Ayade, to avoid the bait of imposing Odukpani/Calabar Municipality Federal House of Representatives candidate on the party, saying it will be counterproductive, and will reverse the fortune of the party in the Federal Constituency.

The group alleged plans by the leadership of the APC and Ayade to impose Inok Edim on the party in a phone conversation with our correspondent, warning that such a move would not only cause the party to lose the 2023 National Assembly elections, but would also be disastrous to allow an unpopular candidate to fly the party flag at the National Assembly polls.

The statement read;

“We have been closely monitoring the APC’s operations in the state, and as a group that values transparency, we today call on the APC’s leadership to refrain from causing political mayhem in the state, instead allowing the people’s voice to be heard.

“The people’s decision should not be made to appear dumb because of primordial interest and inordinate ambition of one man,” the statement added.
