Confusion In Aso Rock Villa As Osinbajo and Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari Clashed
At the coronation of Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, Emir of Kano, on Saturday, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, clashed.
On Saturday, Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano, received his office employees.
The program, which was held with grandeur, was attended by the high and mighty.
When the Master of Ceremony (MC) asked Gambari, who is also the Emir’s uncle, to deliver a goodwill message, there was some little drama.
Gambari, who headed the team to the occasion, told the audience that he was reading it on the President’s behalf.
His statement contradicted the MC’s previous announcement, which referred to Osinbajo as the president’s representative.
In the message delivered by Gambari, Buhari praised the late Emir of Kano, the father of the present Emir, whom he characterized as a man of great culture and conviction.
He remarked, “I recall with fondness the passion and commitment he always demonstrated in pursuit of any cause he believed in, a distinguishing character that nearly cost him his life prematurely on January 19th, 2013 because of his vocal stand against Boko Haram terrorists.”
“Your turbaning is fortuitous because it occurs at a time in our country’s history when prevailing social and political conditions coincide with my buddy, your late father’s ascent to the throne.”
When it was Osinbajo’s turn to speak, he also stated that he was speaking on behalf of the president.
To the delight of the throng, the Vice President repeated the Kano people’s famed saying, “Kano ko da mai ka so, a fi ka,” which approximately translates as “as with whatever you arrive in Kano, the city or its people will surpass you.”
He said, “We are all proud of this city, proud of its tradition of tolerance and love, and pleased that it continues to be a home for all Nigerians.”
