COVID-19: C/River Govt Educates Residents On Proper Usage Of Facemasks
Director General of the State Agency for the Control of Aids (SACA), Dr Etcheri Ansa and her team from the agency, carried out a medical tour of some urban areas, educating and sensitizing them on the use of nose masks and adhering to guidelines for the COVID-19 pandemic. On their visit, the team went round some urban areas of Akamkpa, including the General Hospital, Primary Health Care and Amen Clinic, situated in the ENGHAUT INDUSTRY where several camps were said to be housing workers of the company. The camps, a total of nine (9) include;
(1). Labour camp
(2). Artisan camp
(3). Headquarter camp
(4). Dukwe camp
(5). OJor camp
(6). Calabar River camp
(7). Igbofia camp
(8). Budeng camp and
(9). Akwa Ibami camps respectively.
It was discovered that all the camp settlements in the industry receive free medical treatment from the clinic (Amen Clinic), with each camp having an estimated occupants of 3000 person in the Enghaut industry located in Uyanga. On further assessment, it was gathered that the facility has no hub for HIV unit.
Speaking with the team on some challenges of the facility, Doctors and nurses who were on hand, expressed worry about drugs which hinders them from commencing treatment on patients. SAD!! The hospital management also appealed to government for a HIV facility to be mounted at the clinic to make patients have easy access to drug.

She also said she was marvelled at the gigantic structure and spacious environment which can be used by government to establish as a fully equipped healthcare facility.
“What we have here is a very big facility that can be used as a fully equipped Health outfit. It has the standard and spacious environment which makes it very suitable for a functional health facility. There is need for the HIV hub to be set up, I therefore urge our partners to step in.
High points of the visit was the donation of face masks, hand sanitizers and other COVID-19 preventive measures equipments for proper awareness to the masses was the good efforts of the team.
