Cross River 2023: Dan Obo Reacts To Deputy Governorship Ambition
His Youthfulness, Comrade Daniel Obo, Chairman of the National Youth Council (NYCN) Cross River State Chapter, has reacted to reports that he will run for Deputy Governorship in 2023.
During an assessment of the ongoing refurbishment of the Cross River State Secretariat of the Nigerian Youth Council (NYCN) in Calabar, the State Capital, said “It’s a total rebuilding of the NYCN State Secretariat, which is the first of its type,” stated the NYCN Chairman.
During the project inspection, Obo told Weetalknaija that, as a young man who is concerned about the well-being of his people, he would not hesitate to serve in such capacity (Deputy Governor).
When asked how he received the funds to start on such a large project, Daniel Obo revealed that upon taking office, the State Governor, Ben Ayade, gave his administration a N5 million subvention.
“We were paid N5 million as a subvention by the State Government, and the subvention is N5 million every year,” he said, “but out of six years of his term, we had only gotten for one year”.
“So, instead of sharing that N5 million or going to buy an official vehicle or pay for rented office space like previous administrations had done, we said No!” My administration decided that we should invest it in this project instead, and after we invested, we have been receiving support because of the clean hands, and you can see for yourself that the administrative block is 70% completed.
Further, NYCN Chairman Obo stated that his administration decided to commemorate International Youth Week in the various Local Government Areas.
