Cross River APC Prefer Newcomers To Old Members That Sustained The Party, 2023 Will Present Challenging Dynamics — Okoi Obono-Obla
The former presidential aide, Okoi Obono-Obla has predicted that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Cross River State will face severe challenges in the 2023 general elections in the state.
He said: “The bad strategy and lack of political vision of APC leaders in Cross River State have caused a costly political blunder which the party will pay dearly”.
“A community as thickly populated as Ugep has been left a void and a shopping ground for the opposition.
“The voidness has left the seat of the House of Representatives for Abi /Yakurr federal constituency vulnerable and threatened and likely to be captured by the opposition. Ugep has four council wards.
“In the 2019 I mobilized extensively for APC to win in my council ward in Ugeo with 3,900 votes. It was the first time the opposition will be winning in any council ward in the Abi/Yakurr federal constituency since 1999.
But because APC prefers newcomers to old members that sustained it, 2023 will present challenging dynamics”.
“APC as a result of the political sagacity of Dr. Usani Uguru Usani used to hold sway in the two council wards of Nko, Assiga, and Nyima council wards”.
“However, the bad, myopic and selfish leadership of APC, thoughtlessly marginalized, disrespected, and alienated Dr. Usani and he has left to pitch his political tent with the opposition PRP”.
“Yakurr has become vulnerable. Rt. Hon Bassey Ewa from Ekori is one of the most experienced politicians in Cross River State today”.
“Ekori has three council wards which Hon. Ewa will sway to PDP. So we are left with Abi local government area; the PDP House of Representatives candidate is from Itigidi”.
“He is likely to win that council ward with the support of Senator Liyel Imoke. APC candidate for the House of Representatives will struggle Abi local government area with PDP.The votes will evenly split between the two parties”.
“Yakurr will be decisive and battleground. The four council wards of Ugep; three council wards of Ekori are gone, also, the two council wards of Nko are gone. APC is very vulnerable to the above analysis”.
