Cross River Governor, Ayade Reacts As Cally Air Begins Operation
The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja was buzzing on Thursday when Cally Air, a commercial airliner from Cross River State, landed for the first time.
Sir Ben Ayade, the Governor of Cross River State, who was on the tarmac for the historic touchdown of the plane, expressed his delight at the trip, which had earlier left Lagos’ Murtala Mohammed International Airport for Abuja.
Ayade, who boarded the plane for inspection after it landed, expressed his delight that the CallY Air concept, which began in 2016, became a reality without the need for government loans, adding that intellectual capital enabled the acquisition of the planes.
“This is the beginning of Cross River state’s emancipation and complete dissociation from dependence on the federal government,” the governor remarked, congratulating the people of Cross River state on their achievement. Cally Air, in my opinion, is the start of the privatization process that will eventually result in the creation of a private sector that has never been before. It is also the start of a new economy in Cross River State that has never existed before.”
Ayade continued, “The Cally Air reality is a strong statement that sub-nationals may genuinely become fully independent,” noting that the airliner will increase passenger traffic to Cross River state and the Obudu international airport, which he stated would be completed by December 2021.
“Let the world know today that you can achieve everything your imagination imagines. Cally Air will also fly to Obudu, and the Obudu cattle ranch will see a significant increase in traffic.”
According to the governor, Cally Air’s participation in the Nigerian aviation business will raise industry standards for other aviators to follow, while ensuring that safety and punctuality remain important.
“Even if I, as governor, am one minute late for boarding, the planes must close their doors and leave me on the ground,” he said. It is my pledge that no Cross Riverian will have the authority to keep this plane on the ground for even a single second. As soon as it’s time to leave, do so. Cally on the dot is exactly what I’m looking for.”
The CallyAir Boeing 737-300 is equipped with a unique GPS system that is the greatest of its kind in use, as well as a cutting-edge communication system. It is Boeing’s most successful airplane type, with the best safety record in the company’s history.
