Weetalknaija Daily Post gathered that, the Cross River government has decried spate of vandalism of electrical Installations in the state.
The Director General of the State Electrification Agency (SEA) has assured the Chairman of Greater Calabar Capital City Development Authority, (GCCCDA), Mr. Bassey Effiom, of its readiness to partner with the Agency on its cities expansion vision.
The DG of SEA who made this known to Weetalknaija Daily Post when the Agency’s Chairman, Mr Bassey Effiom led a delegation to visit the Agency on Tuesday, hinted on the readiness to partner with the Agency to enable them achieve the Governor Ben Ayade’s vision of decongesting Calabar.
Reacting, Chairman of the Agency,Mr Bassey Effiom, thanked the DG of SEA for giving them the opportunity to seek for synergy with his Agency despite tight schedule.
He said the purpose of the visit was for the Agency, Greater Calabar Capital City Development Authority to seek for partnership with SEA in ensuring that power supply gets to these rural areas upon completion of the Ben Ayade’s vision of decongesting Calabar metropolis.
Also speaking, the Director General, (DG), Kingsley Ikpeme said the Ben Ayade’s led adminstration is poised to spreading development to all the rural communities in the Southern senatorial district.
He said power supply is one of the keys to development, noting that, development cannot be achieved without power supply.
He thanked the DG of SEA for availing GCCCDA the opportunity to partner with his Agency.
Responding, the DG of SEA said the partnership call was timely.Stressing that, the increase in the vandalism of the state’s assets had become quite alarming and is depriving the Agency of supplying power to the street lights around Atimbo, IBB, etc.
“It is quite troubling and intolerable because the damages caused is not only affecting the aesthetics of the state, but to commuters plying these areas,” he said.
DG noted that, the cost of replacing the stolen assets was huge and when it happens like this, it usually takes some time to restore power supply”.
The DG who said the partnership call was timely, pleaded with the Agency to assist State Electrification Agency to ensure that electrical assets within the metropolis were protected, adding that, SEA cannot do it alone.
