Ahead of the forthcoming bye elections in Akpabuyo State Constituency and Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency, the Cross River State Chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), has urged political parties in the State to shun violence during and after the elections.

Ambassador Osim said this to Journalists in Obudu while attending the Thanksgiving Mass/Reception in honour of the State PDP Chairman, Barrister Venatius Ikem at St. Charles Parish, Obudu.

He called on participating parties to conduct their members and supporters in the most decent manner to avoid violence so as to ensure the successful conduct of the poll. He also noted that in every election, there would certainly be winners and losers, therefore all politicians must approach the exercise in the spirit of sportsmanship and must bear in mind that power is transitory and there is no need destroying lives and properties on something that is temporal.

He assured the people of Yala/Ogoja Federal Constituency as well as Akpabuyo State Constituency that only God’s will shall prevail in the end of the elections. Therefore, Political leaders should moderate their ambitions by placing the peace and security of Cross River State over their personal aspirations and not forget that whoever sheds the blood of his fellow brother to achieve his political ambition shall face the wrath of God, for the Lord has warned that ‘to the wicked, there shall be no peace.’

He urge Cross Riverians to exercise their franchise peacefully and boldly, complying with all the relevant directives. He said the Inter-Party Advisory Council under his leadership shall work with relevant stakeholders to closely monitor the entire process to ensure a free and fair elections and all participating political parties are given equal opportunity to exercise their franchise.
