Ayade eulogies late Chief Mathew Odey Lifu at 74

The Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade has described late Chief Mathew Odey Lifu, the foster father to the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Mrs Stella Odey Ekpo as a devote Catholic, a great Community Leader and a Philanthropist who impacted positively on Humanity during his life times.

Senator Ayade made the remark in a Condolence at the Funeral Church Service held at Saint Peter’s Primary School Field, Ugaga,Yala Local Government Area.

The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Professor Ivara Ejemot Esu also pointed out that, the deceased left a lasting legacies as he bequeathed life of hard work, patriotism and honesty onto his Children.

He maintained that, the deceased, having lived a long life with fulfilled dreams and aspirations, his death is nothing short of a celebration of life as he lived the Biblical age of three scores of ten and above.

The Governor called on all Men to have interest in the Girl Child education which the late Chief Mathew Lifu exhibited, that has placed Mrs Stella Odey Ekpo in one of the highest Political position in Government as Commissioner.

In a Sermon, the Officiating Minister and General Overseer of Christ Dominion Ministries, Ugaga, Pastor Samuel Adula called on those still alive to go for Jesus Christ by living according to the teachings of Christ.

He explained that, Money, Children, Life and Material possession can not set one free, but only when you embrace Jesus in all your dealings with fellow Humans, that you can be set free.

A Biography read by his first Son, Mr Julius Odey showed that, late Mathew Lifu was born in 1945 in Ugaga,Yala Local Government Area where he started his early Education at Saints Peter’s Primary School and obtained his first school leaving certificate.

The Biography also indicated that, late Mr Lifu was a seasoned Teacher, who served in most Villages of Yala Local Government Area before his retirement from service in 1987 and died on October 28,2019.

In Her Tribute, the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs and a foster Daughter to the deceased, Mrs Stella Odey Ekpo said, the demise of their Father had left the family in absolute shock with too many questions unanswered.

She disclosed that, her decision to honour and celebrate her foster father burial, was to show all Men in Ugaga that it pays to invest in the Girl Child education for the development of Humanity.

In their separate remarks, the Husband of the Bereaved Commissioner, Mr Victor Ekpo described the deceased as a caring and loving father in law and advised the family not to mourn like people with out Christ, adding that, their father lived a fulfilled life which they should leverage upon.

Condolence Messages were also presented by the State Executive Council, represented by the Commissioner for Commerce, Mrs RoseMary Archibong, while the Head of Local Government Administration was by Reverend Mrs Christiana Nelson Elemi.

Late Chief Mathew Odey Lifu is survived by Eight Children and a foster daughter, Mrs Stella Odey Ekpo.
