Cross River State Government says the Gulf of Guinea Commission established by the state will not only resolve border related dispute arising from exploitation of natural resources, especially within the economic zones but will attract cooperation and development opportunities from the Member States.
The State Commissioner for International Development Cooperation, Dr. Inyang Asibong ,stated this during a meeting with the Cross River Special Envoy to the Gulf of Guinea and the head of Gulf of Guinea Commission (GOG-C), Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo.
Asibong described the strategic meeting as an important effort to discuss the various variables affecting quick attraction of International development and investments into the State.
She assured the team of the Ministry of International Development Cooperation working partnership to ensure other countries through the GOG buy into Cross River Model due to its strategic location on the Gulf Corridor.
The Commissioner said ,already four countries including Gabon, Sao Tome and Principe, Cameroun and Equatorial Guinea have lined up to warehouse the trade opportunities with the Gulf Economy following the opening of an International trade corridor through the creation of the Gulf of Guinea Commission (GOG-C) by the Cross River State Governor, Sen. (Prof.) Ben Ayade.
Earlier in his remarks, Cross River Special Envoy to Gulf of Guinea Commission,Rt Hon John-Gaul Lebo said Governor Ayade’s vision to key into regional maritime initiatives is already taking shape, with neighboring countries sharing their vision with Cross River, a development that will not only create opportunities for the state but will also put Cross River on a global Radar.
Recall that economic experts at various fora have hinged on the urgent need for a regional business dialogue on investment promotion in Cross River State using the the Gulf of Guinea Commission and the Calabar Free Trade Zone (CFTC) opportunities to further improve the state Gross Domestic Product.
Present at the meeting are Hon. Hilary Bisong, Chairman, House Committee on Disaster Management and Humanitarian Crisis, and Mr. Albert Kusi, SSA to the Governor on Economic Zone.
