The Youth House Committee on security matters met with the State Special Service to discuss the outcome and resolution of the just concluded #EndSARS protest.
Governor Ayade, in the meeting, advised the youth of the state to take achievement the sole responsibility and obligation they are expected to bring to reality as citizens of the state. He admonished them to have a foresight that will be a direction on how they can be useful to themselves and the society.
According to his statement delivered by his permanent secretary, he also encouraged them to dominate and explore their potentials that will put a stop to strangers coming to their land to dominate while they relax.
He expected the youth to have made records for themselves especially in the security matters of the state.
“Youths are supposed to realize their wants. Cross River Youths Parliaments should have made history in the anals of security.”
Moreover, he saw the need to “re-orient the youths about the consciousness in security and education”.
In addition to what the Governor said, the State Security adviser, Henry Okonkon, from the southern part of the state, spoke about the effects of #EndSARS protest that happened sometime ago in the state and the demoralization of the Nigeria Police by the protesters.
” In Nigeria today, the effect of #EndSARS has lingered into the country and Cross River State is not an exemption and the moral of the Nigerian police is dampened.”
He also added that the youths need to wake up from their slumbers and stop placing laziness over exploring oppurtunities for their great use and for the benefit of the state.
He pointed that there are different sectors the youths can fit in, most especially agriculture. Futhermore, he emphasized that unemployment and laziness always result into crime.
