Despite Tears And Promises, Ayade Failed To Fix WAEC, CICC, Others Destroyed During #EndSARS Protests, But Quickly Renovated His Own Leophina Petroleum Gas Station — Agba Jalingo
Governor Ayade went round in November 2020 and shed tears in some locations after hoodlums destroyed properties in Calabar during the #EndSARS protests.
He was at the WAEC office in Calabar on November 2, 2020 to also assess the level of damage. WAEC is an ECOWAS regional examination body that Governor Ayade may not owe any financial obligations statutorily, but the Governor out of his own volition, on that occasion, committed himself that he was going to immediately fix WAEC’s burnt office and directed on the spot that the Council should be given an alternative office space. He also promised to ease their logistics challenges with the provision of a Toyota Hilux.
After nine months of waiting and trying hard to get the Governor to keep his promise to no avail, WAEC reopened their Calabar office yesterday, after skeletal renovation.
It is worthy of note that, apart from WAEC, from the CICC to private businesses and several other locations that were equally affected by the brigandage, including government buildings housing MDAs that were blown off by subsequent rainstorm that followed, the one that has quickly come back to business and sparkling, is Leophina Petroleum gas station, along Murtala Mohammed Highway, owned by the Ayades.
Despite the tears and the promises to fix these public places in time, our Governor characteristically went back to sleep after promising. He has a good heart, his admirers say, so he promises lavishly, but take those promises serious at your own peril.
