During Jonathan, All Service Chiefs Were Christians From One Section Of The country — Buhari Loyalist Lambasts Umar
RESPONSE TO THE OPEN LETTER OF COL. ABUBAKAR DANGIWA UMAR (RTD) TO PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari
Col Abubakar Dangiwa, your assertion of favouritism by the president Muhammadu Buhari cannot hold water.
Moreover, critical appointments in the Military, must consider trust and loyalty; for instance; IBB,when he took over in palace coupthat dislodged Gen Buhari,as a military Head of state, you were catapulted to the position of a state governor despite your rank as Lt col. and very inexperienced but, your loyalty seemingly qualified you for the position.
Most of the appointments in the Military are hierarchical but, there was no time when such processes were abused than during the Presidency of GoodLuck A Jonathan; When decency was thrown way and all the service chiefs were Christians from one section of the country, with exception of the IGP. Where were you to caution the incumbent at that time, when a dangerous precedent was established.
The mistake made in the first republic by the appointment of the Gen Agui Ironsi to placate the NCNC political party,at expense of more qualified Sandust trained fine officer; Col Zakaria Maimalari was the greatest mistake and the genesis of the Nigerian crisis to date and costly oversight made by the Northerners.
You being a Military officer you know the treacherous decision Ironsi took after the military coup that ousted the Tafawa Balewa regime,he was even said to have had a hand in the murder of Sir Ahmadu Bello, the premier of Northern Nigeria by proxy in the Lt col Nzegun’s brutal coup.
All your assertions of favouritism most be backed with vital statistics if we should take you serious for not being partisan. If you have a political ambition, you should becareful not to delve into something you can’t defend.
Psychologists view certain behaviour as demostrated by some people as inferiority complex or attempting to curry political support from some people that even as of today do not recognize everyone with an equal rights and stake in the Nigerian polity.
