The member representing Obubra/Etung federal constituency and the Deputy Chairman, house committee on Pension, Hon Mike Etaba has yesterday visited some of the affected communities in Osopong 1&2 in Obubra Local Government Area torn apart by the lingering communal crisis between the neighbouring Izzi people of Ebonyi state to assure them of adequate security and safety of their lives and properties.
In a statement released to Weetalknaija Blog by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr Adams Oyama, says for those who know Hon Etaba, you can attest to the fact that he is an advocate of unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
“His commitment to ensure the security of lives and properties of his constituents have always propelled him to visit these places regularly and assists in whatever way”.
“But far above these visits, the Young Honourable ( Mike Etaba) is determine to put an end to the crises and bring about lasting peace”, the statement added.
Continuing, Mike Etaba said “No community strives under war. It hampers our economic growth and lead to the lose of lives and properties. Our lives remain our most valuable assets. These wars have continued and only halted temporary irrespective of our efforts”.
He said “To put an end to it, My colleague representing Abakaliki/Izzi Federal Constituency and I have made sure there is budgetary provisions to enable the national boundary commission put a boundary in this region. We believe this will stop this war permanently”.
“I will also beckon more on the Governor to double our security arrangement and also liaise with the government of Ebonyi State to make sure we all have peaceful coexistence”.
“As a government, we are all interested in our security and will stop at nothing till we achieve peace and unity within ourselves and neighbours”, Mike Etaba said.
