Today, the member representing Obubra 1 State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly and the Chairman House of Assembly Committee on “Public Accounts”, Rt. Hon Okpechi Friday Gabriel has in audience, the leadership of the Yala/Okpambe indigenes in his office at the State House of Assembly Complex were he emphasized on “Unity” and “Togetherness” of the Local Government Area.
The President of the Association, Mr Oba Oga Akasi said the above Association is overwhelmed with sense of delight and wishes to congratulates Rt. Hon Okpechi Friday Gabriel on his meritorious victory at the just concluded polls and his subsequent inauguration into the 9th Assembly.
“The EXCO without mincing words recognizes your rich credentials and wealth of experience in both political and administrative/leadership sphere. We have no doubt that you will excel as our representative as God will equip you to make your tenure memorable and rewarding”, the statement read.
The statement continue, “We as a people, we’ll continue to support you and your pursuit for a peaceful and sustainable development in Obubra Local Government, particularly Obubra 1 State Constituency, as we hope for a more convenient environment to interact with you on familiar grounds and build a sustainable relationship to ensure ethical and mutual benefits to all”
Okpechi who is grateful to the courtesy visit, said “it is important and a welcome development that as leaders we should always meet to deliberate on distressing issues affecting our Constituency as me as a representative cannot do it alone but needs support from everyone of you here present”.
“I’m aware of the challenges surrounding us as a people, and for those who have been following up with the 8th and 9th Assembly proceedings can bear me witness on my bills and motions that I had sponsored and moved so far. As a representative, there is no time I speak on Chambers that I doesn’t raised one or two issues bothering my people, the reason is because I was sent to serve, I was sent to speak for my people, I was sent to bring nearer my constituents challenges before the Governor, Senator Ben Ayade, and that I have promise to continue to do until the cry of my people gets to the governor’s ear”, Okpechi added.
“What bothers me most is the lingering communal clashes which has continued to rocked the communities I represent, it gives me sleepless nights, because I can’t be sleeping with my eyes close when my people are been butchered on daily basis by the Ebonyi State people”.
“I wish to bring to your notice that I will join my voice to that of our leader, Rt. Hon Mike Etaba to ensure that total peace is restored back to the Mbembe Land”, Hon Okpechi assured.
