More defections has continued to hits the All Progressives Congress, APC in Cross River State as former Boki Local Government Chairman, Barr. Austin Tase and an aide to former senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, Senator Victor Ndoma Egba, Mr Lawrence Takon (Lawbuse) dumped the APC for PDP with their supporters.
They were received in Ikom today, 15th July by the Gubernatorial Candidate of the C’River PDP, Sen. Sandy Ojang Onor, Barr. Attah Ochinke, PDP Candidate for Ikom/Boki Federal House, Chapter Chairmen of Boki and Ikom and other party stalwarts.
The duo pledged their unalloyed support for Senator Sandy Ojang Onor and the People’s Democratic Party stating that the party has shown readiness to win the forthcoming election as demonstrated by her organised and transparent processes that brought in candidates in all the positions.
2023: APC chieftain set to dump party, meets Atiku Campaign Coordinator
In the other news, the All Progressives Congress is faced by mass exodus as a chieftain of the party in Niger State, Comrade Jonathan Vatsa, is set to defect to Peoples Democratic Party.
The former Publicity Secretary of the APC revealed this to select newsmen in Minna, the Niger State capital, on Tuesday.
Vatsa spoke after a closed door meeting with the Niger State Coordinator of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organisation, Dr. Zagbayi Shem Nuhu.
He said he was about 100 per cent sure of leaving the APC.
The meeting, which took place at the private residence of the former Deputy Governor of the state, lasted for about two hours.
However, this latest meeting with the AAPCOCoordinator has further buttressed the speculations that the Coordinator on Public Affairs to the Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has made up his mind to dump the ruling party for the opposition party in a matter of days.
Findings have it that the meeting between the duo is not unconnected with the current political alignment ahead of the 2023 elections, and a possible switch of loyalty from the ruling APC to the main opposition party.
While speaking with newsmen, the former Niger State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism said: “I am 95 per cent out of the APC, but I am still consulting members of the opposition party.
“I will be meeting with Prof. Jerry Gana, the State Party Chairman of the PDP and other major stakeholders of the PDP as from tomorrow (Wednesday).”
It should be noted that the meeting is coming barely 48 hours after a similar closed door meeting between Vatsa and the former Governor of the state, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, at his (Aliyu’s) residence.
Recall that in 2006, Vatsa was the Coordinator of the Atiku Abubakar Support Group, the Turaki Vanguard, Niger State chapter on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria.
He later became the Publicity Secretary of the APC in 2014 after the merger of the ACN with other political parties.
