Four Serving PDP Governors In Last Minute Negotiations To Defect To Labour Party

About four serving governors and one former may dump the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for Labour Party or the ruling All Progressive Congress.

The decision of the governors, WeetalknaijaBlog learnt, stemmed from the outcome of the primary election which produced Atiku Abubakar from the North instead of the South.

Another reason is the manner in which Ifeanyi Okowa, governor of Delta state, emerged as Atiku’s running mate against the wishes of the selection committee set up by the party candidate for that purpose.

The emergence of Okowa did not go down well with the selection committee who voted massively for Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state but Atiku singlehandedly preferred Okowa as his running mate.

Again, since the emergence of Atiku and Okowa as presidential and vice presidential candidates, Atiku has not deemed it fit to visit Wike and the vice presidential selection committee whose decision Atiku jettisoned. These actions have thrown the party into disarray.

It was gathered that the 16 man committee that voted for Governor Wike are angry with Atiku Abubakar for picking Okowa as running mate against the collective decision of the governors and the committee members.

Again, many are of the belief that Governor Okowa worked against the interest of the Southern Nigeria so that he could pursue the vice presidency of the party.

Arising from the foregoing, former Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has told the party that he was going to work for southern presidency, while Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has prepared ground to work for Mr. Peter Obi to emerge the president of the federal republic of Nigeria.

It was revealed that Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state is angry with Atiku Abubakar for hand picking Okowa as his running mate, which he claimed was contrary to the decision of the party and the selection committee which was set with the knowledge of the presidential candidate.

The moves of Governor Wike of Rivers state is still unclear but emerging facts and his actions are indicative that he may not work for the victory of the party in the 2023 presidential election.

A source close to the party told our reporter that PDP is currently regretting for not picking Peter Obi as the party standard bearer disclosing that, the party is jittery over fear of losing the election to the Labour Party candidate.
