FRSC Sector Commander commends DOPT DG for effective performance

THE Federal Road Safety Sector Commander for Cross River State, Mr Chidi Nkwonta has commended Comrade Godwin Nyiam the Director General of Department of Public Transportation, DOPT, for effective performance.

The Commander made the commendation at the weekend during the commissioning of the tow van procured by the FRSC to facilitate its functions in the state.

Mr Nkwonta said since the inception of the department from records and investigations, Comrade Nyiam has been outstanding and has breathed fresh lease of life into the activities of the department within the short period he has headed the place.

“I can say without equivocation that from our records and due investigation Comrade Nyiam has done exceptionally well and I can say there is a new lease of life in the activities of the DOPT and such performance can only be rewarded with more work”.

He said during the workshop in Abuja organised by the FRSC, Comrade Nyiam’s presentation was the best among coordinators of the departments of state road safety coordinators in the country.

The Sector Commander said the two van is to facilitate the removal breakdown vehicles on major roads to avoid road blockage and long holdups.

He warned that any vehicle towed for deliberately blocking the road, the owner will be made to pay but vehicles that breakdown on major highways would be towed for free.

Hon Ogbor Ogbor, Chairman of the House of Assembly Committee on Transport assured the sector commander of government’s readiness to partner with the sector command to ensure safety on the roads.
