Gershom Bassey’s Wife Launches Another Phase Of Women’s Project, Calls For Active Participation Of Women In Politics

The Presbyterian Church Of Nigeria indeed felt the 2nd phase of the impact of the Women’s Project Launch at George Town 7 Miles, Calabar.

During the event, remarks were made by Mrs. Bassey Bassey Nsa, who represented Dr. Mrs. Chioma Gershom Bassey, the wife of Distinguished Senator Gershom Bassey,Senator Representing Cross River South.

In her words “It is high time women are encouraged to take active roles in the development of political consciousness and the increase in the participation of electoral matters”.

Dr Chioma added that equal participation of women in politics and government is integral to building strong communities and a vibrant democracy in which women and men can thrive. By voting, running for office, and engaging in civil society as leaders and activists, women shape laws, policies, and decision-making in ways that reflect their interests and needs, as well as those of their families and communities’ .

She further urged the women to engage actively in the ongoing party registrations online and INEC voters registration, as all can be done on the commission’s website.

The Coordinator of The Women’s Guild, Honorable Florence Inyang, Secretary Of The Women’s Guild, alongside Rt. Hon. Oma Boco, Mrs. Nkechi Ebri and Mrs. Uyai Boco emphasized that Presbyterian Church Of Nigeria (PCN) women should initiate programs and projects on wealth creation and youth development which are currently in line with global trends.

One of the highlights of the event was cash donations made by Dr. Mrs. Chioma Gershom Bassey, the wife of Senator Gershom Bassey through her representative for the 2nd phase Women’s project lunch in the 2021 motherhood service of the Presbyterian church of Nigeria George,Town 7 miles,Calabar.
