The aphorism that youths are leaders of tomorrow, is almost becoming a mirage or better put, an assumption. This is because, youths have been relegated to the background when it comes to leadership roles in our socio/political atmosphere. Be that as it may, some youths didn’t give inn to such weak antics, rather choose to take the bull by the horn. Little wonder, the strong emergence of Comr. Godwin Nyiam to the political terrain of Cross River State.
While the negligence of youths by the elite can be heavily ascribe to youths themselves, a little blame goes to our political class. Nevertheless, the man Godwin Nyiam, approached life with a positive mindset and got into the pinaccle of political appointment through hardwork, commitment, dedication and outrightness.
A tip backward, Godwin Nyiam, out of hard work and dedication, was appointed Chief Protocol officer to the Vice Chacellor of the University of Calabar, a position he held for a while and discharged all level of maturity and transparency. Prior to 2019 general elections, Godwin Nyiam resigned as a staff of the University of Calabar to pursue his political aspiration, and this let him to challenge the status quo, by contesting for the position of Senate, to represent the good people of Northern Cross River State. A position not many young people will dream to contest. His aspiration was adjuded the best, as he gave the incumbent senator a fight that got her seating up to her duties.
A golden fish knows no hiding they said, hence at his lost during his party primaries, His Excellency the Governor of Cross River State, Distinguished Senator Prof Ben. Ayade saw the need for creative and resourceful Godwin to be of his team toward a better Cross River, thus he appointed him, Director General, Department of Public Transportation (DOPT). A position Godwin has demonstrated utmost level of performce.
On assumption of office,Godwin Nyiam took into consideration the need to decongest the metropolis by creating other avenues vehicles can apply as well as park, this he did, without hurting any party involve. It was on the need to give Calabar a face lift, that young and energetic Godwin, donated his full month salary (May, 2019) for the reconstruction of the pedestrain By Marian Market, Marian Calabar, to avoid occurrences of accident. Moreso, hold ups in Calabar is now a thing of the past, as Watt Market, a popular hold in jam in Calabar is totally free for both motorist and commuters.
In appreciation to such creative, evidential and proactive work, Godwin Nyiam in not less that Five months in office, was awarded by the Cross River Transport Stakeholders as the best DG that department ever got. As if that wasn’t enough, the Muslim community in Bogobiri, Calabar awarded him the best DOPT DG, the youths in his community, where not left out in this gale of awards, as the award was finally taken to a greater level, when the Leadership of Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO)gave him an award for his outstanding performance.
Comr. Godwin Nyiam is not a sleeping man, he does not mix business with pleasure, he clearly defines his goal and gets at it. This is a man, who joins him men at the field to bring result to the table. He is surely the man Cross River State needs, to contribute his quarter to the development of the state in a more higher capacity.
Consequenntly, I Obi Hubert is proposing that, our esteem Governor, finds Comr. Godwin Nyiam honourable enough, hardworking enough, dedicated enough and creative enough, to serve in his new cabinet as a commissioner.
By this, the youths will be rest assured that their interest is heavily represented.
