Godwin Nyiam Gets Award Of Excellence From Calabar Transport Stakeholders.

CALABAR Transport stakeholders Forum , an association of all transport operators in Calabar on Tuesday bestowed an award on Comrade Godwin Nyiam for excellent performance.

The Coordinator of the Forum, Togun Abayomi Oluwaseun said the award is to identify and recognise Comrade Nyiam for the job he is doing and encourage him to do more in that sector.

‘We have within the few months you assumed office as the DOPT boss experienced smooth transport movement in the city anytime of the day because you are always on the field controlling traffic and making sure everyone is put in line”.

He said they appreciate the good effort Comrade Nyiam is contributing towards making movement free movement of vehicles in the city

“We have seen many administrators in this office, though we are not condemn them but within the short period you have been here you have carried everyone because you have a listening ear”.

Also speaking, Honourable Archibong Edem, Chairman Private Motor Park Terminal said the transport stakeholders met and decided to bestow him the award because of his excellent performance which has reduced road accidents, congestion on the roads and the return of sanity to the city.

“We also commend Senator Professor Ben Ayade for bringing you here. Perhaps he heard our cry and appointed you because he has the heart of love which he showed by reducing the daily fees for transporters in the state to five hundred naira and many people who are educated now are into transportation to find food for themselves. If we are allowed to make a choice we duly recommend you for a higher appointment”.

Responding, Comrade Nyiam said nature can be manipulated but not stop it saying the award has spurred him to do more and called for continued cooperation from the transport operators in the city for the good of everyone.

“Reward for hard work is more work therefore I will do more and not disappoint the governor who appointed me and the people who have given me support for the wok I am doing”.

He said the governor has given approval for the construction of a central motor park and the purchase of one thousand buses for the Cross Lines mass transit”.
