Good news for students as the minister and state commissioners of education are set to meet to discuss school issues.The federal government will on Monday next week meet with state governments in Abuja to discuss the modalities for school resumptions.As per reports,the meeting will be presided over by Mallam Adamu Adamu (Minister of Education) and all state commissioners of Education should be in attendance.
On Sunday night,the Permanent Secretary of the federal ministry of Education,Arc. Sony Echono released an invitation to this effect.According to the invitation that was released on Sunday,the minister and the commissioners will be reconsidering new examination timetables for WAEC (West African Examinations Council),NECO (National Examinations Council),the National Common Entrance Examinations and BECEC.
The meeting is expected to be online (through zoom) and will commence at 11 am next week Monday.
Part of the invitation reads and i quote;
“Invitation to a webinar consultative meeting between the FME and Hon Commissioners of Education.The PS,Federal Ministry of Education,Arc. Sonny Echono,cordially invites Honourable Commissioners of Education of the 36 states of the federation and the FCT to a consultative meeting on the way forward towards reopening our schools.In particular,the agenda for a new schedule for WAEC,NECO,BECEC,the National Common Entrance among other issues will be on the table.”
We hope that through this meeting,a suitable date is fixed for these exams as we learn to live our normal lives in these trying times.
