GYB Scholarship Foundation Soon To Give Fresh Set Of Scholarships Into Tertiary Institutions To Kogi Students – Adoji

The Chairman, GYB Scholarship Foundation, Hon. Arome Adoji has today revealed that the foundation is set to begin another phase of it’s scholarship scheme.

The initiator of the project which has spanned over three years now confirmed the news when he met with some members of the foundation’s management team and partnering organizations. He emphasized that there is still much work to be done in the area of Education in Kogi State and Governor Yahaya Bello is not leaving any stone unturned even as he gradually finishes his first tenure in office. “We are already rounding up plans with some government agencies to get strongly involved in this phase and onward”. The Chairman said.

Comrade Adoji, who extensively commended the management of the tertiary institutions that have so far embraced the scheme and schooled the beneficiaries of the project said, if not for the working partnership of these tertiary institutions, the vision of the foundation would have been a mere mirage.

“Today, over 3,000 youths including the indigent ones have been able to get tertiary education from schools like, Kinsey College of Education Ilorin, City College of Education Abuja, Crestfield College of Education Osun State. According to our records, while many are in school, some of them have graduated while some are currently undergoing their Teaching Practice.” The Chairman noted.

Comrade Adoji who is a serving Commissioner at the Kogi State House of Assembly Service Commission described the GYB Scholarship Foundation as not just a campaign tool for the GYB administration, but an already over 3 years educational development project in Kogi State that has come to positively affect the teeming youths, giving them opportunity to access quality higher education. “We are on the other hand strongly implementing SDG Goal 4, which is Quality Education. We understand that obtaining a quality education is the foundation to creating sustainable development in the state. In addition to improving quality of life, access to inclusive education can help equip locals with the tools required to develop innovative solutions to the world’s greatest problems.” Comrade Adoji explained.

While he spoke, he confirmed that about 7,000 Kogities from the 3 senatorial districts shall be beneficiaries of the scheme in the coming weeks. “Many of our young ones would once again find opportunities with almost zero financial commitment to further their education at City College of Education Abuja, Kinsey College of Education Ilorin, Crestfield College of Education Osun State, Festmed College of Education Ajowa Ondo State and some other unlisted schools at the moment.” He noted.

The immediate past Kogi State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism also took time to commend Governor Yahaya Bello and his running mate Chief Edward Onoja for making it possible for the GYB Scholarship Foundation to see the light of day and come this far. He also appealed that the project be giving much more attention as it is capable of making Kogi State score high in the implementation of SDG 4. Concluding his address, he mentioned that “For quality education to be provided to the children of impoverished families, huge investment is needed in educational scholarships, which the GYB Scholarship Foundation is primarily targeted at.”

The foundation’s Executive Director, Mr. Isaac Idoko took his time to appreciate Hon. Gabriel Arome Adoji for his commitment in ensuring that Kogi State and the Governor Yahaya Bello’s led administration is at the front burner of discuss among states that are strongly ensuring equal access for all women and men to affordable and quality technical, vocational and tertiary education, including university.

He furthered by confirming that the foundation is strongly working with the Director General of Kogi State Bureau of Information Services and Grassroots Sensitisation, Mr. Abdulkarim Abdulmalik, in making major progress towards increasing the awareness and enrollment rates in the coming phase of the project. He also pledged the relentless effort of the team in ensuring that the vision for the foundation, remains in line with that of Governor Bello and his Chief of Staff and greatly achieved.
