On Saturday, nearly 200 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obubra Local Government Area defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Chief Godwin Igwe, the PDP Chairman of the Obubra Local Government Council, welcomed the APC decampees at the Obubra Urban.

According to one of the decampees, they joined the PDP to help build the Obubra Local Government Area.

“We are defecting to the PDP for the development of Obubra LGA and Nigeria as a whole.

“Our time in APC has not been pleasant. He claims that the APC’s policies and approach have harmed democracy and governance in the area council.

The PDP Chapter Chairman of Obubra Local Government Area, receiving the decampees, stated that more decampees were still coming to the party for its and Obubra LGA’s development.

Ward to ward tours, the flying of Party flags in all 11 council wards, and the sensitization of the public on the importance of enrolling in the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission continuous voter’s card registration are all part of the event’s activities.

Rt Hon. (Dr) Friday Gabriel Okpechi, member of the Cross River State House of Assembly representing Obubra 1 State Constituency, Hon. Frank Ovat, Rt. Hon. Moses Abeng Onor, Hon. Dr. Walter Ajogbor, Hon. Peter Okey, Councillor representing Obubra Urban, and others were among those present.
